Welcome to the city of Grande Prairie which is located in the Northern part of Alberta in the heart of Peace Region. It is approximately 456km from Edmonton and is the seventh largest city in Alberta. Grande Prairie is also known as “Swan City”, as we are nestled in a major breeding area for Trumpeter Swans. Grande Prairie’s vibrant economy has developed with years of steady growth.  Situated on the southern edge of the Peace River region, Grande Prairie is aptly named for the vast and fertile prairie surrounding the City. Grande Prairie has much to offer visitors and residents, from recreation opportunities from shopping and entertainment to world-class recreation facilities.


Play Outside in Grande Prairie

One of Grande Prairie’s largest tourist attractions is Muskoseepi ParkThe park features tennis, sight seeing, lawn bowling, mini-golf, fishing, swimming, biking/walking trails & various other activities. The park features over 1100 acres of recreation area. The city also offers a skate park, campgrounds, Culture Information Centre, Centre 2000, Grande Prairie Museum, the Dog Park & Bear Creek Raceway.

During the spring and summer, you can take advantage of the late night golfing, the largest slo-pitch league in Alberta, and hundreds of kilometres of City and regional trails for biking, hiking and quading. Grande Prairie offers beautiful golf courses such as Bear Creek Golf Course, The Dunes & The Grande Prairie Golf & Country Club. These golf courses offer memberships/camps for all ages and lovely landscaped courses with mature trees, immaculate greens & polished fairways. Grande Prairie Golf & Country Club holds regional, provincial & national golf events.

In the winter months, the place to hit is Nitehawk Ski Hill which provided a Luge track, mountain bike park, convention Facility and holds international competitions.

City Facilities

 The community also has numerous facilities, including the Eastlink Centre, Bear Creek Outdoor Pool, Coca-Cola Centre, Museum and Indoor Soccer Pitch.
Recently opened is the Eastlink Centre, which provides a mix of aquatic and field sports. It has many activities such as a cooking classroom, running track, field house, squash/racquetball courts, jungle play place, holds events such has birthday parties & so much more. A place for the family to spend hours of quality time. 

Grande Prairie Arts and Performances

 World-class acts like Elton John, Keith Urban and Rihanna, have all graced the Revolution Place’s stage. The Grande Prairie Live Theatre produces seven plays each season, as well as concerts, movies and other events. You can curl up with a good book and latte at the state-of-the-art Grande Prairie Public Library or tour an art exhibit at the newly expanded Art Gallery of Grande Prairie. For those looking for a hands-on experience, sign up for a pottery class at the Centre for Creative Arts.
